We were pleased to welcome Roel Beetsma, Dean and Professor of Macroeconomics at the University of Amsterdam, as the speaker for our second webinar.

In this session, Roel presented his recent study titled "Do Pension Fund Investments Make a Difference? Effects on Firm Productivity." His research explores how pension fund investments can impact the productivity of firms.

Key findings from the study include:

• Pension funds raise firms’ productivity by investing in their equity.

• On average, a 1 percentage point increase in pension fund investment is associated with a total factor productivity increase of approximately 0.3%.

• The effects are even larger for unlisted firms.
