Our keynote speakers for the 3rd Annual Pensión Conference

We are delighted to announce our keynote speakers for the 3rd Annual Pensión ConferenceProf. Peter Diamond (2010 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences, Institute Professor Emeritus at MIT) and Bo Könberg (Former Minister for Health and Social Security in Sweden). 

Peter Diamond is Institute Professor Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he taught from 1966 to 2011. A world-renowned economist, he has made major contributions to optimal taxation, search theory, and pension reform. Since advising the U.S. Congress on Social Security in 1974, he has examined pension systems across several countries. His books include Reforming Pensions: Principles and Policy Choices and Pension Reform: A Short Guide (both co-authored with Nicholas Barr), as well as Saving Social Security: A Balanced Approach (with Peter Orszag). In 2010, he was awarded the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for his analysis of markets with search frictions.

Bo Könberg served as Sweden’s Minister for Social Insurance and Health (1991–1994), where he led the design and implementation of the world’s first Notional Defined Contribution (NDC) pension system—passed with broad parliamentary support in 1994. He later served as a Member of Parliament (1995–2005), Governor of Södermanland (2006–2012), and Chairman of the Swedish Pension Authority (2010–2015), continuing to shape Sweden’s internationally respected pension model.
